This web page is not about the history of Ocean Unity Church in Newport, Oregon but is about the people in our small congregation and what they have done and are doing for the church, their  local communities, their families and each other.

For Local Communities and beyond
3 members lead support groups meeting at the church
1 couple does volunteer mental health counseling
1 member is on the board of 2 local not for profits and loads furniture at a free furniture warehouse.
1 member teaches math to disadvantaged youth
1 couple helps assemble cloth dolls for kids in hospitals
Several members are managing or working at local not for profit organizations
1 member does volunteer wardrobe work at the local performing arts center
1 member gives free caregiver training
1 member is the moderator of the largest eye surgery recovery  website and newsgroup
! Member offers free webmaster services to 3 local not for profits
Several members helped 3 homeless people get back on their feet
1 member staffs a table at the annual Homeless Connect event
1 member help distribute 10,000 lbs of food for annual Holiday food baskets
The church has annually provided extra Christmas presents and food to a needy family
The church makes regular donations to local public service organizations
The church has ongoing contributions of food to the Newport  food bank.

For family (including church family)
2 members are raising their grandchildren
Several members are caregivers to family members
Several members are available to drive other members to medical appointments
The entire church prayed for the recovery of the daughter of a member who then recovered from a heart transplant
1 member took a homeless person in as a room mate
There is an active prayer group at the church
3 members regularly lead classes at the church
1 member helped another buy a new car
Several members drive others to church
1 member helped another winter proof a home
Several members are driving to Corvallis to offer Care Giver respite to another member
1 member takes another member who is in a nursing home out to lunch each week.
Several members have helped other members move.

There is lots more as people are just doing stuff and not broadcasting it. And all this is being done by a little church with only less that 30 members!

This is why the congregation unanimously agrees Ocean Unity is the "Little Church with the Big Heart."
